On April 28, 2024, Prof. Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail (Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UPM), Prof. Dr. Bany Ariffin Amin Noordin (Dean of SBE UPM), and Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Anuar Shah Bali Mahomed (Deputy Dean for Graduate), visited Xiamen University Siming Campus. On the basis of previous deep cooperation, UPM and XMUPT further strengthening the promotion of Academic-Industrial-Research collaboration between China and Malaysia.

On October 12, 2024, at Building 25 of Taichuang Park in Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone, China and Malaysia held the unveiling ceremony of the UPM CSSC. The CSSC project has received support and joint construction from the Fujian Provincial Government Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone Management Committee, marking substantial progress in cooperation between the two parties.

On April 21, 2025, at the UPM SBE office, China and Malaysia held the unveiling ceremony of the UPM-XMUPT MSSC. Dato 'Professor Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, the Vice-Chancellor of UPM, personally unveiled the ceremony of UPM-XMUPT MCCS. This program, as the first project implemented simultaneously by UPM in China and Malaysia, has been submitted to the education authorities of both countries. It is planned to be an important achievement project implemented after the joint statement on building a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future to be issued by the top leaders of the two countries during their meeting in April.

On July 3, 2025, with the support of the Fujian Provincial Government Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone Management Committee, Building 21 of Taichuang Park was officially put into use as the building for UPM CSSC. We held a grand launching ceremony. At the same time, the SBE UPM-XMUPT Joint Laboratory Research for Economics and Business Intelligence (JLREBI) and XMUPT-UPM CSSC China-Malaysia Talent Exchange Centre will be also launched. These efforts will promote the China-Malaysia Academic-Industrial-Research collaboration to enter the substantive operation stage and contribute to the construction of the Belt and Road.
